Legos are, by far, the most played with item in our house. I remember playing with Legos for hours at a time when I was a child, and I love that I’ve been able to pass on that same experience to my own kids.
As a mom of 4 boys, it’s nice to have something that is engaging for a wide range of ages. My (almost) 14 year old enjoys Legos just as much as his 9, 5, and 2 year old brothers. Watching them work together as they problem solve and design with Lego bricks is awesome. Knowing that they are stregthening their fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination as they build and have fun, is just icing on the cake.
Other than how much it hurts when I step on a stray Lego while walking barefoot, I can’t think of a single thing that I don’t like about Legos. They are awesome !
Although one of my favorite things about Legos, is the fact that they provide an open-ended opportunity for kids to create and engineer a wide variety of structures and designs, I also appreciate that Legos can be used for so many more directed learning activities as well.
