When it comes to math skills, the best way for kids to really grasp concepts and strategies, is to engage in hands-on, interactive, and fun learning experiences.
We use playing cards often to practice all kinds of basic math skills. Cards are a great way to get kids excited about math.
Recently, we were sent the Matics math card game from Kabuki Helps to review.
Kabuki Helps is an awesome website that offers all kinds of educational children’s books and games independently created and published by teachers and parents. They have a wide selection of items for children of all ages, and they also donate a portion of each sale to the charity or school of your choice when you purchase items on their site.
Matics is a math card game for all ages, consisting of a 52 card (numbers 0-12) deck. I was able to play the game with my 9 year old (multiplication), my 6 year old (addition, subtraction, and numerical logic & reasoning), and even my 3 year old (number recognition, shapes, colors, numerical order, and counting).
I was impressed with both the quality and durability of these cards. The kids loved the monster on the back of the cards, as well as the various shapes and colors on the front…
It’s always nice to find products that can be used for different ages and stages.
Matics was an exciting way for us to play and learn together. When we were done, Matics became a great independent activity for my youngest. He enjoyed counting the objects on each card…
He also spent a significant amount of time picking up all the cards and putting them back into the included plastic case…
