Children are natural learners.  Their curiosity and thirst for knowledge motivates them to take everyday experiences and turn them into valuable (and educational) lessons.

A simple walk around the block can become a math lesson, as children count flowers that they see or how many steps it takes them to get from point A to point B. Snack time can turn into a hands-on math activity as kids add the number of grapes they have to the number of grapes a sibling has to determine how many they have altogether.

Following a child’s lead and building on their interests is a great way to encourage them as they learn more about the world and how things work.

My boys have always been interested in numbers and mathematics.  Over the years, we’ve come up with all kinds of math games and activities to expand their knowledge. Today, we are sharing some of our favorite simple ways to practice early math skills at home with kids.
